At a distance of 87 kilometres (54 miles) from Velana International Airport (MLE) inside South Ari Atoll lies the beautiful island of Dhangethi. With a local population of around 1000 people, the island offers a unique blend of local culture and serene nature.

It is famous for its long, widely stretched lagoon and is located in a prime location for year-round whale shark and manta ray sightings. The island is situated in what is known as the "Dive Heart" zone of the Maldives.
